After bringing the HoloLens to the classroom a couple of times, I quickly realized that I needed some sort of teaching station that could be wheeled into any classroom to expose students to an AR/VR/MR experience. If one person is immersed, spectator view is crucial to include the others. Also, the computer lab is often booked during the teaching time of studio classes.
I sketched my idea and then made plans to build a custom cart. Since all my research funds went into speccing out the research computer, I had to be creative with the frame. A surplus metal cart had to suffice. I built a plywood box with a drawer on top and 3D printed some fittings to make it all work. The computer is strapped to the bottom and the monitor to the box. The MR Cart allows for a pop up installation anywhere in the Warehouse. The gear (HTC Vive, Microsoft HoloLens) is stored in the drawer.
