Research

As the true method of knowledge is experiment the true faculty of knowing must be the faculty which experiences. — William Blake 1788

New technologies are constantly influencing the way we can design. Therefore, designers need to understand the capabilities of new technology and imagine possible future scenarios in which these technologies play a more underlying or more prominent role.
I consider myself a T-shaped designer, someone that has a thorough understanding of the broad picture while also being able to have a deep subject matter conversation.

My research focus since 2017 is exploring how Extended Reality is influencing design. To connect my research activities with the classroom, I built the mixed reality cart, a mobile computer station that allows AR/VR/MR pop ups. I created a video compilation showing the reaction of many first time XR users that I introduced to this immersive medium.

The research tab contains the collection of my scholarly activities, from collaborative projects, creative and award winning design work to conference presentations and proceedings.
